Enough Musk Spam

2292 readers

For those that have had enough of the Elon Musk worship online.

No flaming, baiting, etc. This community is intended for those opposed to the influx of Elon Musk-related advertising online. Coming here to defend Musk or his companies will not get you banned, but it likely will result in downvotes. Please use the reporting feature if you see a rule violation.

Opinions from all sides of the political spectrum are welcome here. However, we kindly ask that off-topic political discussion be kept to a minimum, so as to focus on the goal of this sub. This community is minimally moderated, so discussion and the power of upvotes/downvotes are allowed, provided lemmy.world rules are not broken.

Post links to instances of obvious Elon Musk fanboy brigading in default subreddits, lemmy/kbin communities/instances, astroturfing from Tesla/SpaceX/etc., or any articles critical of Musk, his ideas, unrealistic promises and timelines, or the working conditions at his companies.

Tesla-specific discussion can be posted here as well as our sister community /c/RealTesla.

MODERATORS

Taboola's data, shared exclusively with Axios, shows Musk has outpaced his closest peers — Jeff Bezos and Mark Zuckerberg — for years, but the gap widened dramatically in 2024.

The spam is already exponential. :(

I truly do not understand this community nor its reddit namesake...

When I asked over there years ago, I was told it was a place to "consolidate Musk news so people can block it" but it's not like people choose between a news community and this one....it gets posted in both. Double the musk spam...

I think the idea is you downvote all the musk spam elsewhere and block this one, while directing people here for the news if they want it.

Great idea if everyone is on board...double the upvoted musk posts if not

I don't like posting anything Musk, but I do think his engagement metrics are notable. There's a 'subjective' feeling he as a scary amount of eyeballs glued to him, and this is objective confirmation of that.

In other words, I view this sub as one to 'observe' Musk.

The Musk headline we need is "Elon Musk died"

I could do without the headline part as long as the thing being reported happened.
