is the graphic supposed to mean something? it seems AI generated too…

It is AI gen but the medical(?) website that I found it on apparently doesn’t proofread. There are other slop images across their site with worse writing, but I just found the junk term “neuropyptical” to be funny.

I'm afflicted by both ND and religious trauma.

Honestly, the more I spoke about it with a therapist as an adult, the more horrified she became about how I was treated.

Y'all ever been told you need to be cleansed of demons and pray for forgiveness in order to stop being an evil embarrassment of a person? Or that the reason you have an illness is because you don't love God and aren't trying hard enough?

But don't worry! It got worse.

That sucks. When therapists join the war on trauma, it should not be on the side of trauma.

I don't think they were suggesting that the therapist was reinforcing any of this, just that the therapist was horrified by what they went through.

Correct!

I changed the wording of the post to hopefully make it more clear.

I’m mocking the ironic contrast of a supposed infographic with nonsense terms as well as the corporate laziness of not just using it but also not even glancing at the text before publishing.

Ima do the lemmy thing and take this too seriously haha. neuro divergent covers everything that isn't neuro typical i.e. how society expects a brain to work. So the term covers not only ad(h)d and the autism spectrum but also things like ocd, trauma, (former) addiction, meditation masters, etc. saying there is a third thing next to neuro typical and neuro divergent is like saying there is a third thing next to pregnant and not pregnant

I can suggest a book by Nick Walker about this that was very enlightening for me: "Neuroqueer Heresies: Notes on the Neurodiversity Paradigm, Autistic Empowerment, and Postnormal Possibilities" I am also open to other Book recommendations

Ptsd counts as neurodivergent
