From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Linux is a family of open source Unix-like operating systems based on the Linux kernel, an operating system kernel first released on September 17, 1991 by Linus Torvalds. Linux is typically packaged in a Linux distribution (or distro for short).

Distributions include the Linux kernel and supporting system software and libraries, many of which are provided by the GNU Project. Many Linux distributions use the word "Linux" in their name, but the Free Software Foundation uses the name GNU/Linux to emphasize the importance of GNU software, causing some controversy.

I want to start uploading my musical tidbits online and I am looking for tools that can help me auto-generate videos off my music. I do all my music on Linux and I'd like the virtualization tool to also be Linux based. These can be visualizers or image screensaver style transitions. Anything that isn't generative "AI" because I'd rather not inadvertently steal others art. Any suggestions on apps?

Kdenlive has a visualizer effect you can use https://docs.kdenlive.org/en/effects_and_filters/video_effects/on_master/audio_spectrum_filter.html

It's not crazy but it works well enough for something simple.

I know that QMMP has a built-in visualizer, and the webpage says that the visualizer is call projectM, which you can apparently also run standalone: https://github.com/projectM-visualizer/projectm

Not exactly what you want, but FFmpeg can do waveforms

I do this for my partner's podcast

If you don't mind a steep learning curve one X change for endless possibilities: Blender

That would be amazing, but I already have my plate full with guitar, piano, Maschine, Deluge, and French. Still in queue are Renoise (tracker DAW), Arturia Pigments, Bitwig's funky chained synth thing amd Japanese.

I just something quick and easy so that I can post clips on Loops, etc.
