MODERATORS

Far into the future

You are part of the so-called elite, with money in your pockets, an army of suckers to satisfy your every desire.

The planet is doing badly, the human species has produced to the maximum of its capacity and devoured almost all natural resources, oxygen has become profitable because it is progress.

A holy man from ancient times, a visionary, a divinity to many of your fellow human beings, named Elon Musk created a Mars base for the richest, for the best genes among humans.

A crucial choice is before you.

  • Are you going to join the productivist elite to go and destroy the planet Mars because you have the right and the power to do so ?

or

  • Are you staying on planet Earth to try something?
(In this case please elaborate on what you would like to try)

Stay on Earth.

Pretend all is normal and fine.

Once the 'elite' have left to their new planet:

Cut off all communications with them.

Destroy any of their supply lines left behind.

Wait 5-10 years.

Watch as the Earth heals rapidly, with it's biggest source of destruction now gone and nature resumes being an unstoppable force.

Live a long and happy life, free of megalomaniacs.

Optional: hold hands with two chicks at the same time.

Stay on Earth. Mars colonization is important to give humanity a place to survive should Earth be destroyed or damaged beyond repair by cataclysmic events.

But it is not our second chance at building home once Earth has been drained. At any point, reversing climate change on Earth is way, way easier than terraforming Mars. We don't need to deliver anything to it, it's where we are already, and even after a lot of fuckery, it will still be the most suitable place for humans to live. Moreover, we know exactly what to do to reverse the trend on Earth - and can only be left to guess what to do with Mars.

I'd kill myself to prevent further drain of resources, but not before convincing every other elite I can find to do it too.

Or, alternately, go to Mars and sabotage/monkeywrench the whole thing.

Needs context and I know this can be as varied as it gets. I'm not someone who has any skills or knowledge in any field that could help Earth recover (other than some basic understanding of ecology, fauna and biology). I think I'd be inclined to stay and try gathering a team of skilled people to recover it.
