Used to like st Pauli till I found out they were Zionists. What is up with German leftists?

[–] wasabi@feddit.org 24 points 7 hours ago* (last edited 7 hours ago)

Of course it's St. Pauli.

[–] Volkditty@lemmy.world 57 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

Given St. Paul's reputation for left-wing activism, kinda surprised they were still on Twitter for this long.

There are a lot of leftists still "fighting the good fight" on Xitter, even if the platform is pitted against them and all they do is drive engagement to it. I never understood why some people can't bring themselves to leave. I left reddit for much less.

[–] BrianTheeBiscuiteer@lemmy.world 16 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

This only makes sense when the owner of the platform isn't actively driving the conversation to the right.

[–] Volkditty@lemmy.world 6 points 8 hours ago

Yeah, I did not mean to disparage or downplay their decision to leave. Better late than never, it's just that the time for trying to "change the system from within" seemed well past to me.

Habit is one hell of a thing.

Also for a lot of people, their social circle is partly there.

i.e. I use discord because my partners do so even if I know that it sucks.

[–] Telorand@reddthat.com 6 points 7 hours ago

Discord at least has community moderation tools. Xitter is just a town square where all the Neo-nazis and conspiracy theorists get louder megaphones than everyone else.

But the "my friends are there" is such a weak argument, imo. BlueSky exists. Spoutible exists. Mastodon exists. If they're IRL friends, they can just regroup elsewhere. If they're only online friends, you can make new ones pretty easily.

"My friends are there" is just a tacit admission that they don't mind sharing space with Neo-nazis.

Then again, discord is not outright fascist. Yes it's a shitty company, but shitty companies are the standard

Twitter though? I feel as if a lot more people could go "if you want to ever talk with me again, go here" and people would follow. It's a bit harder to argue for staying on twitter when all of this shit is going on

Then again, a lot of my friends are still on twitter despite me telling how fucking dangerous that site is now, so eh. I don't really get it, though. Then again, I have little sympathy for people who complain that something is too complex just because it doesn't do literally everything for you. A lot of people are just addicted to convenience, despite it harming them in the long run

I get that, but at this point I'd actively try to get them to use a different site/app. I managed to move large parts of my friend group and my whole family to Signal. I'm now trying to get some to transition from Discord to Matrix, though moving there has definitely been not as smooth.

It should be much easier with Twitter, there are a bunch of very similar and usable alternatives. You just have to put in some work and convince people with solid arguments and support.

Just order myself some FC Saint Pauli socks.

https://www.fcsp-shop.com/en/sale/clothing/trikots-mehr/?order=price-asc&p=1

The anti twitter sock.

Edit :

And Of course their logo is a skull and cross bones ☠️.

And of course they’re using people with disabilities in ad

https://www.fcsp-shop.com/en/clothing/accessories/caps/?order=price-asc&p=1

This is the perfect football team .

I don’t even like football and if. I’m honest with you, I’m still unsure about ze Germans, but fuck me if these aren’t a shining light in sport

Hans... Are we... Are we the baddies?

[–] trespasser69@lemmy.world 6 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

l think Xitter going to be first sosial media to die, because of heavy bias.

[–] ms_lane@lemmy.world 1 points 4 hours ago

Tom from Myspace might disagree.

I think Digg would too.

[–] zante@slrpnk.net 2 points 7 hours ago

It would be awesome if they sold like a million shirts around the world
