We all need to know our limits. Mine is doing anything that requires reading more than a paragraph.

Can somebody summarize what this dude is talking about? He used too many words

[–] serpineslair@lemmy.world 14 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I use the webpage. I've been here since May. I've never seen it down/slow. It sounds like your ISP is prioritizing preferred networks. Which is why people were fighting so hard in 2018 for Net Neutrality.

The media never covered it. Most people didn't care. This is the result.

Maybe it's just API traffic then, I only use Boost and there are certainly times when it slows down a bit. Usually around the busier times of day and it usually doesn't last long (I assume it's probably scaling ramp up time) so that's why I am unable to break the cycle LMAO

Outages are much rarer though

I had to set up a server to test something. It was surprisingly simple. That being said the documentation for setting up Lemmy is often outdated due to the rapid development and the amount of large/breaking changes. So it might be difficult if you don't know what you are doing.

DB0 continues to work just fine, as usual.

Create an account on a local server?

[–] Sorse@discuss.tchncs.de 1 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Local as in hosted in your country? If so then hell no (I’m from Russia)

[–] cyborganism@lemmy.ca 2 points 2 months ago

Oh shoot.

Any other instance that's closer?

[–] jeena@piefed.jeena.net 2 points 2 months ago

Pro tip: Install PieFed, it's much easier to run because it's just a python script and it's way easier on the resources than Lemmy.

I planed to... But then I found sdf and I like it
