Remember the times when Google invented stuff that was not completely obvious? What happened to them?
Enshittification. They’re too big to care.
Rat out my friends by telling Google their DOB? Will they also add a field for mothers' maiden name? No thanks.
It took them years to finally add reminders for the birthdays (and similar special dates) in the contact app.
why is this news, though? before contacts integration was a thing i created yearly-repeat events for birthdays of family and close friends.
i now get reminded twice! once for my manually-created entry and once more for the contact integration.
... It never occurred to me to put birthdays in the contacts. I've only got recurring events!
Wow, are we in the future or something?? Jesus christ, Google. 💀
