Holy shit, Logan Sargeant Q3 lets gooo

I wasn't really expecting much higher than 10th from him in Q3, so this isn't that bad if they can lineup tomorrow without taking any grid penalties

This didn't age well...

Nice two first two rows, with for different teams. Love it!

Edit: even better: 6 different teams at the first 3 rows :)

Super happy to see the two Williams making it to Q3

[-] cjsolx@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Russell sounded legitimately excited for them too!

Norris πŸ‘πŸ‘

Albon πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘ mega effort

McLarens and Williams loving the wet again

[-] espentan@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Mhm, and also high downforce, low speed tracks (relatively speaking).

[-] bhmnscmm@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Am I misremembering? I thought Williams' strong suite was high speed tracks before the break.

Either way, Albon is always good in wet conditions.

[-] espentan@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

My comment was directed at the McLarens, and you're right, historically (2022 and this year) Williams have been quick at high speed tracks.

So happy to see Sergeant make it into Q3, even with the crash. It'll be good for his confidence.

This weekend has been awesome so far and I'm not just saying that because I'm a Williams fan.

HAM beaten by SGT, time to retire πŸ’€

Ferraris are looking strange today. Locking up and sliding eveywhere

[-] bhmnscmm@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

That's at least the third time that's happened to Leclerc today.

[-] Nighed@sffa.community 3 points 1 year ago

Between the two of them they have missed the first corner 4+? Times.

This could just be an extension of leclerc's habbit of pushing beyond what is possible

That heli cam with the speed information is fantastic!

[-] espentan@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

That's what.. someone said.

[-] espentan@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago

Leclerc has about had it with Ferrari..

[-] espentan@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Sainz, realizing McLaren will be a threat, tries to innocently take them out. Clever.

Edit: Well, right now Ferrari are only a threat to themselves.

[-] espentan@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

Albon and that Williams really love these conditions, on this track.

[-] bhmnscmm@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

I'm so happy to see McLaren making a strong showing after the last few years. Excluding Redbull, I think the second half of the season is theirs to lose.

[-] espentan@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

The difference between Max and Perez is similar to the difference between Albon and Logan.

[-] BaskinRobbins@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 year ago

Is this the first Q2 for Sargeant?

[-] gitpsuh@programming.dev 5 points 1 year ago

Alex Jacques just said this is his 3rd Q2 appearance

[-] espentan@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

I was wondering the same thing.. think it might be.

Edit: 3rd time, apparently.

[-] lazycouchpotato@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

Both Williams in Q3!

Shortest Q3 debut for anyone?

Edit: couldn't find stats. I remember at least one driver crashing in Q2 but making it through for the first time though.

[-] bhmnscmm@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

Kinda surprised to hear the optimism about Ricciardo coming back next year despite the injury.

[-] espentan@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

Do we know how severe the injury is, yet? It didn't seem that bad, and it would be harsh to dismiss him for missing a couple of races this season. If Lawson wins today, he might be in trouble, though.

What did Leclerc set on the top of the car before he removed the wheel?

It sort of looked like a Ferrari branded tape measure.

[-] BURN@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Seatbelt buckle. All the harnesses clip into one central point on F1 belts iirc. I think it’s normally left attached to one of the over the shoulder belts

[-] bhmnscmm@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Ah, you're definitely right. I had no idea they could be removed entirely, I thought they were permanently attached to one of the straps.

[-] BaskinRobbins@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 year ago

Good shit Sargeant

I feel like I'm watching a nature documentary with all these super close ups.
