almost every hijacker was known to be Saudi and highly connected.

Unhelpfully, Snopes notes it is “False” because apparently the 9/11 Commission said it didn’t have any proof. The guy who approved the flight says it did and the FBI brought it to them. The FBI told the commission ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.
