Men's Lib (lemmy.blahaj.zone)

Does anybody know of an equivalent to /r/menslib? I think a strong egalitarian community for men could easily become a cornerstone of the threadiverse.

I don't think there is one, but I'd definitely subscribe. Menslib was an excellent breath of fresh air after the Mra movement tried to set us back fifty years.

I had never heard of menslib before seeing this, looked it up and I'm confused why this is getting down voted ๐Ÿค”

I think people are assuming its a mens rights sort of thing. Its a non-bigoted community that is compatible with intersectional feminism

I think part of the problem is that a lot of feminists, whether rightfully or not, feel that movements like r/menslib take away from the overall feminist movement.

In my own example, I assumed it was a synonym with toxic MRA. Glad to hear it apparently is not.

No idea, maybe people don't know the sub and assume it's Mra? Menslib was an excellent subreddit and I really want to see it back.

As a man that actually loves men, this sounds kinda cringe.

I'm not sure what your sexual orientation has to do with anything here.

clutches pearls On pride month?!

Mainly a joke. Figured this was another Men's rights group looking for a new home to aggregate hate and self-loathing. Sharing endless word salads by "genius thinkers" fighting "the matrix" like Jordan Peterson, Andrew Tate, and the like. Would love to be wrong but men's activism tends to reek of homophobia, transphobia, and good ol' misogyny. Wishing y'all the best of luck ๐Ÿš€

Rules

The rules may be more established as time goes on, but it's important to have a foundation to work on.

1. Follow the rules of Lemmy.world - These rules are the same as Mastodon.world's rules, which can be found here.

2. Include a community title and description in your post title. - A following example of this would be New Communities - A place to post new communities all over Lemmy for discovery and promotion.

3. Follow the formatting. - The formatting as included below is important for people getting universal links across Lemmy as easily as possible.

Formatting

Please include this following format in your post:

[link text](/c/community@instance.com)

This provides a link that should work across instances, but in some cases it won't

You should also include either:

!community@instance.com

or instance.com/c/community

FAQ:

Q: Why do I get a 404?

A: At least one user in an instance needs to search for a community before it gets fetched. Searching for the community will bring it into the instance and it will fetch a few of the most recent posts without comments. If a user is subscribed to a community, then all of the future posts and interactions are now in-sync.

Q: When I try to create a post, the circle just spins forever. Why is that?

A: This is a current known issue with large communities. Sometimes it does get posted, but just continues spinning, but sometimes it doesn't get posted and continues spinning. If it doesn't actually get posted, the best thing to do is try later. However, only some people seem to be having this problem at the moment.
