Planet Labs are about to launch a hyperspectral satellite with the first product being methane emission detection. Looking forward to seeing it operational - will sure measure the impact of emissions and identify sources.

I find it fascinating how it's called methane in this context, but natural gas when oil companies sell their fracking bi-product to heat homes and run water heaters.
Natural gas is just Cool Ranch™ flavored methane.
