What's up everyone, I've decided that I want to watch a bunch of Jackie Chan movies but I don't know where to start. Which of his movies are essential viewing? I'm committing to watching everything that's suggested.

The Drunken Master films are unparalleled in comedy action. Absolutely hypnotic choreography.

First one was excellent! Seeing him play a spoiled little shit was great.

Anything directed by Yuen Woo-ping is going to be great.

I'm gonna start with Rumble in the Bronx (1995) because I know that one.

[–] MobileSuitBagera@lemmy.fmhy.ml 1 points 2 years ago

Finished Rumble in the Bronx, I realized about 40 minutes in that I knew it because I'd seen it before. Still enjoyed it though.

Police Story is a good one that's easy to find and has a lot of sequels so you can keep going if you want. Drunken Master is probably my favorite of his movies. I watched a bunch of them as a kid and he made me a life-long fan of stunt work.

Thanks for the suggestions, They're on the list.

You should give Police Story a watch. The stuntwork in it is insane.

Police Story is #3 Thank you!

Both Armour of God movies, and both Drunken Masters would be my personal pick.

[–] Hossenfeffer@feddit.uk 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Armour of God is Jackie’s take on Indiana Jones and Operation Condor is his James Bond. Both are pretty epic.

Thank you! Amour of God will be #5 and Operation Condor is #6
