A lot of the worldnews articles seem to be US centric, and I'm sick of Trump news. Would you please post on the News community instead and only post actual world news here?

Yes, I know US is part of the world too but it is dominating at the moment.

It'd be better if you had posted some non-US news instead of this. That's how it works.

Don't agree. There is too much US based news, even considering the fact that majority of users are US based. A lot happens everywhere and the feed does not need to be flooded with US news, even less so when it is Florida man level news.

Nothing interesting is happening in my country at the moment.

You can check out anime titties for better world news.

Which instance? The one I've found is not active

!anime_titties@mlem.a-smol-cat.fr

Auto hot Linking apparently doesn't work with that instance so: https://mlem.a-smol-cat.fr/c/anime_titties

Fantastic, thank you.

I agree - prefer not to have US news in world news, and I say that as an American. I guess downvotes would be a way to send a message but would be a good community policy imo. Report as spam??!

Yeah, this was a big problem on reddit, and was the reason I unsubbed from them (when I still used reddit).

Let's not make the same mistake here. "World news" should be a mix of news. Otherwise it should just be called "US news".

use keyword filtering and filter trump musk etc.

sync can do it, i'm told connect can too but i'm not sure.

This is good, yet a bit aggressive for my taste. It would be nice to be able to keyword filter only for specific communities.

[–] burgersc12@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 year ago

Connect also supports regex as a filter now iirc

I think more regional news communities might help, including a US news community. Then, we hopefully get multi communities soon, and can group as we wish.

Feel free to steal stuff from the hexbear news/events megathread. People are constantly posting articles in the comments that get buried.

Pretty on the nose, don't you think?

So OPs only post, ever, is to bitch about what other people post? Just post interesting stuff from your country instead of complaining that the rest of us don’t psychically follow your very own imaginary rules you made up yourself.

[–] pancakes@sh.itjust.works 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Post history doesn't have relevance here since OP is in the right. The sub is called "world news", and there is far too much specifically US news here. Americans have many places to post their domestic news, so why make the world news communities shittier?

[–] discusseded@programming.dev 0 points 1 year ago (1 children)

This might shock you to hear it, but the US is on the same rock as your country. Sorry that so little people from your spot on this marble have something to report, but it's not a US problem, is it? Unless you consider crying to be news worthy.

[–] pancakes@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 year ago

Agreed, the US is on the same rock as every other country. However, unlike how you might think, this rock doesn't completely revolve around the US.

[–] discusseded@programming.dev -2 points 1 year ago

The US is a part of the world. If most users are from the US, then their news is going to be of the US. It's unfortunate that your country is not represented here, but maybe you can help the matter by posting local news instead of cwying about others. Nobody else is going to do it for you.
