Check what environmental variables and launch options Lutris is using, and if stuff like gamemoderun is being used, which can help with performance a little or a lot depending on your hardware.

How much log information is being printed to the console? If it's logging something every frame then that could be using a ton of resources.
Glad that you got it working. I haven't played jc4, but from what I've seen of it I think that jc3 is vastly superior to jc4
I haven't played jc3, but I plan on it. I mainly played jc4 cause I just love the environments, and the diversity that comes with them. I had a very distorted perception of just cause 4, though. I must be thinking of some other game, cause I'd always seen it as a more gritty, dark game, but from screenshots I've seen it looks really vibrant. might check it out sooner rather than later
Lutris runs games with bunch of stuff like their runtime, dxvk, vkd3d, dxvk-nvapi, dgvoodoo etc I think checking your lutris settings for what all is enabled and running the game using those may help
yes, i installed dxvk from winetricks as opposed to manually. that solved my issue. thank you for the help.
