Ever get tired of hunting things down for Shattered Pixel Dungeon's first quest? in v2.2.0, the ghost questgiver will only wander in the exit room, and the quest bosses will be more likely to wander towards the player. This should hopefully cut down on frustration without making the quest feel much different.

That's a great change! I always hated to encounter the ghost in corridors because I couldn't get past him without activating the quest :D

wait...the monster doesn't spawn if you don't talk to the ghost??

Nope. I always explore the level first before I trigger the quest. This way you won't get cornered by the crab or sniped by the Gnoll Trickster so easily.

I learned something new today.

That’s also why it gets positioned in the exit room.

funnily enough, this would make it make even more sense imo - the ghost's trapped soul is stuck in a stairway they can (until you help them out) never go through

Thats good to hear, some rng is nice. But hunting the ghost after the Quest is done sucked.

Didn’t it move towards you when the quest was finished? I always stumbled over it pretty quickly whether I wanted to or not

yep, they do follow you at super high speed when the quest is done, in vanilla you had to search the ghost again to give it the rat skull/dried rose

Recently wasted 100 turns looking for the ghost with Into Darkness. Good change 👌.

General advice that you might not know: watch the doors, the ghost is half the speed of the player so if you can tell where it is you can catch it.

I'll probably forget about this and look for the ghost elsewhere anyway lol

I wonder if something could be done to make the Imp's quest less frustrating. If he spawns in a later level, it can be hard to find all the mobs he wants me to kill (have to backtrack, etc).

[–] 00_Evan@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago

I actually already did this years ago. The Imp always asks for Monks on floor 17, golem on floor 19, or either on floor 18.

That sounds great! Recently the ghost got in the way while trying to escape from enemies.

If you talk to it again it disappears without taking a turn

Yes, I'm aware, but I don't se to explore and clean the entire floor before activating it's quest. So I was in a position when I could talk to it and escape but now the quests monster is now roaming free when I'm already outnumbered.
