I work on a production line - in order to take a bathroom break I need someone to break me out and cover for me.
And due to the so-called labor shortage, we're always short staffed and there's never anyone available.

A few years back I was working on Memorial Day getting paid my holiday pay (8 hours pay to stay home) plus time and a half for working on a day I'd normally not.

Yeah its the underpaid teachers fault and not the rules and safety around being in charge of minors. Schools get sued all the time over every little thing. Schools around here are losing teachers and hiring unqualified random people because theres no money. Yeah lets make the education system worse than it already is.
I'm a middle school teacher and generally very permissive with my students when it comes to using the bathroom. That being said, bathroom breaks must be managed. Students routinely go into the the bathrooms to fight, smoke weed, vape, have sex, and other nefarious activities. In a perfect world I would love for my students to be able to get up and go when it was necessary, however, as a teacher I have to keep tabs on whose in and out of my classroom.
At some point I was so done with that shit that I just started getting up and saying that I was going to the bathroom. I mean, what are they supposed to say? They can't forbid me to go and I think that it's less disturbing than asking, hearing "I don't know. Can you go to the bathroom?", and then going.
"I'm going to to the bathroom. Would you like me to do it in the toilet or here?"
As a teacher, I will say that my administration is constantly telling us to limit the number of kids in the hall, especially during the last period of the day. I let my kids go pretty much whenever but I do try to follow a two person in the hall rule. Some people absolutely abuse the right to go to the bathroom and wander the entire period or whatever. It's usually pretty easy to discern who needs to actually use the bathroom and I tend to take it easy on them but I have rules to follow too. I really would prefer to just let my kids go and I dont care that much about if they talk a bit with friends but they can be so irresponsible and just leave for 40 mins, or go smoke weed in the bathroom (it's really common in my school) or whatever.
