Very strong drive from Albon, love to see it.

That alpine wing stressed me out so much

De Vries: "You're coming with me!"

[–] Gerryflap@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Haha yeah, seemed a bit aggressive. Ruined both of their races.

[–] WhiteHawk@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Looked pretty damn funny, though

Felt pretty amateur from De Vries.

He pushed Kevin wide into turns one and two, only to ruin his entry into turn two. Then completely locks up into three trying desperately to hold onto a place he’d more or less already lost.

Albon back into the points! (for now)

Did well there defending like his arse depending on it!

Hey guys, just joined Lemmy due to the silly reddit changes.

Glad to see there's already been work put in to create a sublemmy.

Ferrari, finally with a decent strategy, it is nice to see. Hopefully not just getting my hopes up once again.

Still not sure of it was deliberate or a fluke. Bit kinda glad they did well. We need them in the mix.

We finally did see some team orders and not some back alley strategy to handicap the second driver (Sainz).

Max for the first time this season had to push to not get caught. Alonso and later Hamilton with the mediums had practically the same pace as him.
The 33 is coming. 😎

Three F1 communities across .world, .ml and kbin.. time to plant our flags in our favourite :D

As for the race... predictions:

  • At least 3 yellow flags
  • Alonso gets mad at someone
  • Ferrari amaze us with a strategy we've never seen before
  • George gets upset with Lewis
  • Lewis gets upset with George
[–] genuineparts@feddit.de 2 points 1 year ago

We ticked Alonso gets mad at ~~someone~~ Lewis.

Haha! I love cynical GP. "Yeah we got the message, just drive...."

[–] Photographer@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

And despite the problem he's still pulling away

[–] genuineparts@feddit.de 1 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

I think that was was GP meant: "Sonny you're not fooling anyone driving faster than the rest of the grid..." Since I took Max message as mind games to goad tyre information from other teams.

[–] Gerryflap@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

What a podium. The gods of F1 together. All 3 world champions currently on the grid were on the podium, and joined by Newey as well. Also glad for Albon, love seeing him in the top 10.

[–] genuineparts@feddit.de 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

What the hell was that? I thought they are gonna get out and start a fist fight.

[–] Mr_Dark@feddit.nl 1 points 1 year ago

Was expecting a RUS/BOT v2

It was a shame that Alonso didn't had a new set of medium tyres, he was faster than Hamilton when they had the same compound.
Russell made a good comeback after the crash, having to retire the car was very harsh after all he did to get into the points again.

[–] Sabzhero@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Can Max be beaten? How far will Perez progress, will he beat the Mercs?

[–] CynicalStoic@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

I just want to know what Norris did that earned him an β€œunsportsmanlike” penalty??

[–] JonCecil@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (3 children)

Ferrari not pitting under the safety car.

Count that as the first strategy blunder of the day!

[–] baerd@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Once for a change they actually got this right.

[–] JonCecil@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

Truly shocked that it worked out for them at all.

I fully imagined ill advised stops that put them both back into the DRS train. Not bad, Scuderia!

[–] genuineparts@feddit.de 2 points 1 year ago

Imagine what blunder they could have made with pitting!

[–] dimspace@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

they may be gambling on more safety cars, but im not sure that would help them.

Because this one's going to bunch the field up. Another safety car in 5 laps and Ferrari pitting would put them 17th-18th

[–] JonCecil@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Jenson in the safety car, cheesing like a kid haha

[–] dbj@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Predictions:

  • Race winner: Verstappen by 10+ seconds
  • First car to retire: Perez
[–] wes@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Wondering how the Mercs will do compared to Alonso.
