MODERATORS

Greetings everyone,

We wanted to take a moment and let everyone know about the !business@lemmy.world community on Lemmy.World which hasn't gained much traction. Additionally, we've noticed occasional complaints about Business-related news being posted in the Technology community. To address this, we want to encourage our community members to engage with the Business community.

While we'll still permit Technology-related business news here, unless it becomes overly repetitive, we kindly ask that you consider cross-posting such content to the Business community. This will help foster a more focused discussion environment in both communities.

We've interacted with the mod team of the Business community, and they seem like a dedicated and welcoming group, much like the rest of us here on Lemmy. If you're interested, we encourage you to check out their community and show them some support!

Let's continue to build a thriving and inclusive ecosystem across all our communities on Lemmy.World!

Stricter moderation in not allowing unrelated news would be a good start.

Not to be cynical, but I've had my fair share of Elon Musk spewing bullshit that has nothing to do with anything.

I had to make a filter that specifically blocks content with his name in it. it was getting to be way too much.

While I have no interest, I appreciate the attempt to segregate business news out of other communities

Why was tech-related business news ever allowed in the first place? Being tech-related news is not tech. We don't need every community for technology overwhelmed with Elon Musk's stupid business decision du jour.

As a subscriber to Technology, I felt the pain of seeing all the "Elon Musk stops paying rent" or "Tesla stiffs local pie maker" posts, and I was like "OK, it's not tech, and it's not really 'News', where's the 'Business' section?"

Well... there you go! ;)

!business@lemmy.world

Hopefully will keep Technology and News clean, and the folks who don't want Business can ignore it.

“Hopefully it will keep TechNews clean…” Narrator: It WOULDN’T.

Unfortunately, I'm interested in tech-related business news, so now I'll either have to subscribe to general business news, or go find it myself.

I honestly don't care about Elon Musk, but I do care about CEO changes in general at large tech organizations since that can impact me, such as Mozilla's new CEO or Framework getting more VC funding.

Not only Elon Musk. Most of the posts here are about clueless kinda tech MBAs doing clueless shit, and most of the comments under them are repeating the same outrage (guilty myself).

So - yes please.

Doesn't appear that the rule is enforced consistently and in my experience is used mostly to remove Twitter related news, even those that aren't really business (like primary domain change, which broke some extensions). At the same time posts about pricing changes of streaming services are OK.

That's a great initiative! Cross-posting business-related news to the Business community can really help improve the quality of discussions in both spheres. Plus, engaging with a dedicated group means more relevant insights and a richer experience for everyone involved. I'll definitely check out !business@lemmy.world and support this effort to strengthen our community bonds. Let's keep building together!

You make some giant deal about always-not-tech Musk being shunted to the business section but here a month later is some Engadget post about some remote the shitter king wants.

BARELY qualifies as tech news, because NOTHING he doesn’t actually tech. He’s nothing but blowhard futureware.

PUT EVERYTHING MUSK INTO THE BUSINESS SECTION. IT’S NOT THAT HARD

It's also really easy to ignore or filter.
