Hey everyone! I'm about to hop on a plane for 9 hours and need some recommendations for games to download on my phone (android). What are some of your favorite games that should keep me entertained for my flight?

Stardew! Or Terraria. Evoland 1&2 are both good.

[–] Infynis@midwest.social 3 points 1 year ago

So glad to see other people recommending Evoland. The second game is a masterpiece

Ooo I didn't know they had terraria for the mobile. I've been meaning to try out stardew. Haven't heard of evoland, I'll check it out

If you're gonna try Stardew (which you really should) consider glancing at the wiki and grabbing a few notes.

Or don't, but know that it's there for you to check when you are online again.

I'm way way too late haha. But I always try to recommend Hoplite when I get a chance. It's a small roguelike with surprising depth, no ads, and fun challenge mode.

You weren't too late! Still several hours until take-off. It looks interesting. I have it downloaded and excited to try it out on the flight. Thanks!

Awesome! I hope one or more of your options pays off!

I had a list of my favorite mobile games but I can't seem to find it. Off the top of my head:

  • Fancy Pants Adventures (this is my #1 easily)

  • Sonny

  • Eternium

  • Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (paid)

  • Dicey Dungeons (paid)

  • Downwell (paid)

  • Bloons TD 6 (paid)

  • Dead Cells (paid)

If you haven't played Dicey Dungeons, definitely do. It's above the normal mobile game tier.

Also, if there's still a way to play it somewhere, the Infinity Blade series. It was even good enough to have Brandon Sanderson write a novella for between the first and second game

Shortyz crosswords. Can download a whole bunch of past puzzles from several providers.

Slay the spire is one of the top tier deck builders and very good on mobile

The Battle for `Polytopia is a great civ lite game that's offline. Very colorful and cute, engaging gameplay. It was my go to mobile game for a long time.

If you like city builders, Pocket City 1 and 2 are paid touch based city builder games, and both of them are very good. I would also recommend Battlechasers Nightwar, Mini Metro, Meteorfall, Cat Quest, Vampire Survivors, and Titan Quest.

Into the Breach and Moonlighter are also excellent if you have a Netflix subscription, but they require you to log in first to play them.

I went through this whole post and downloaded a good chunk of your recommendations. I'm not worried that I'll run out of games to play for my flight to Europe. Thanks everybody! :)

Rollercoaster Tycoon. I ponied up for the full game (one-time payment) and am not at all disappointed!

[–] AbsentApe@midwest.social 2 points 1 year ago

Holy crap! Thanks for this! I didn't know this existed!

Hope your flight was good. Alto's Adventure/Alto's Odyssey are great, chill games. It's super important to wear headphones for the full experience. One of my favorite gaming memories is seeing an eclipse in one of them - it was weirdly magical.

Super meat boy forever is offline I think, but you will be cussing loudly.

Edit: My bad meant to comment under OPs.

Retro Bowl! If you like football, that is a big bonus. But even if you don't, it is a pretty fun game.

Civilization Revolution, Civilization VI, Grindstone, and Mini Motorways are my go to time wasters, and I believe they’re all offline enabled.

[–] KingStrafeIV@midwest.social 2 points 1 year ago

Spirit Island or Terra Mystics if you're into board games.

If you like sudoku, Brainium Studios makes a solid app. I like the hint system in particular. if you get stuck, it'll walk you through some more advanced techniques for solving squares.
