This is exciting! I've only ever lurked on autism forums before but I really like the friendly vibe here. Looking forward to seeing this place grow. πŸ‘

I look forward to seeing our friends in r/aspiememes join us.

(And now that I've contributed, back to my usual low-communication lurking o_o)

[-] BackOnMyBS@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

yes! aspiememes was one of the few remaining subs I would visit. most of my memes are from there

[-] MrPoopyButthole@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

You should pin this post to the top

[-] BackOnMyBS@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Good idea! I'm thinking of writing up a quick little intro on the purpose and goals for the sub, then including in this post. Thanks for the tip πŸ™‚

We're in on the ground floor!

It's exciting, right?! I'm really happy to be here for it. Thanks for being here too 😁

Thanks for the nice community. I'd like to give a small suggestion: to use the link format !community@server instead of the full https link in the relevant communities section in the sidebar, because it makes it easier for people to click on and subscribe themselves, even if they're from different lemmy instances.

Example: to use !Autism@kbin.social, instead of https://lemmy.world/c/Autism@kbin.social. The first format will work for people from any server, but the second one will only work for people from lemmy.world.

r/Aspiememes and r/Autism were both places that I really felt that others understood who I was and how I experienced life. it’s great that people are making their way over here!!

[-] BackOnMyBS@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

same! we're doing it πŸ˜€

Just discovered that my comment gets deleted as I type it if my phone switches screen layout, so let's try this again: This has been my exact experience. I went from my kids jokingly saying "Yeah, I think Dad's just autistic" to me finding the r/autism subreddit and relating way to hard with folks there, to discovering self-assessment RBQ-2, AQ, RAADS-R, SQ, EQ, and CAT-Q tests that all spelled things out plain as day, to my kids being like "Yeah, Dad. We were weren't joking. We meant that you are actually, literally autistic".

I understand myself better because of r/autism, and I've learned to have more patience and understanding for myself. I've found my people.

This was me with ants for 3 weeks immediately right after finding the AntsCanada channel. Then I forgot about ants forever. Probably for the best, I might have not been their most responsible god.

I was replying to a different thread, but the page refreshed me and took me to this one πŸ’€

I'm so relieved to find this! I'm going to miss r/autism, but I really look forward to making new friends here! Reddit has been something of a coping mechanism and self regulating tool for so long, it's comforting to know that I have a new home here.

When I view/c/autism I only see posts that are older than 15 days old. I can see newer posts when viewing "all". The same bug occurs whether I am in an app or using a browser. Does anyone know who to contact about this? Or is something wrong with my settings? Example

All neurotypes are welcome, so everything counts! While this community might not be specific to ADHD, there is a lot of overlap between autism and ADHD. Enough so that the co-occurence is often written as AuDHD.

There are no rules that say users can't make andy ADHD posts and due to the co-occurrence, other users might find the post relevant, so go for it. If it gets "too much," we can address is in a mutually beneficial fashion once it comes up. For now, have fun.

I made a post just for you: https://lemmy.world/post/31269?scrollToComments=true
