I left an entire pizza unattended for 20 minutes

I mean that's 100% your fault then, isn't it? 😂

[–] Custoslibera@lemmy.world 9 points 11 months ago (2 children)

Yes but honestly just shocked they ate the entire thing.

They must have been like land piranhas.

More like sky piranhas

[–] Lumidaub@feddit.de 3 points 11 months ago

Why is that surprising? How large was that pizza?

I once saw a young boy get an unopened bag of Doritos stolen from him by a seagull.

[–] GodsKillerKirb@sh.itjust.works 2 points 11 months ago (1 children)

GOD DAMN! I knew seagulls were powerful. I didn't know that seagulls had the power to smell through chip bag plastic.

This is especially shocking for someone who lives in the lower half of southern California, 30 minutes away from multiple beaches.

They are smart enough to know what's inside without smelling it.

Trash pandas of the skies

[–] GodsKillerKirb@sh.itjust.works 2 points 11 months ago

Yeah, that would make sense.

What possible reason could there be for leaving food you intend to eat unattended in public? Do you do that often? Where do you live that you can trust it wouldn't be taken or otherwise fucked with in that time?

It’s pretty common beach etiquette in my country.

I left my wallet and phone next to the pizza (in a bag, they weren’t visible), if people were going to take the pizza it’s likely they’d take the actual valuable stuff first.

May also help to know the beach I was at was in the wealthiest sub in my city. Petty crime is pretty uncommon at any beach though. People leave valuables while they go swimming all the time.

Whenever I’m at the beach I expect seagulls to take my stuff. I’m also on high alert to just grab them and throw them away. They can’t hurt more than geese.🪿

At a theme park I saw a seagull swoop in and steal the sausage out of the hotdog that they held

[–] Deceptichum@kbin.social 3 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Why did the seagull steal its own sausage out of the bun?

[–] qarbone@lemmy.world 3 points 11 months ago

They just love stealing that much. If they have a chance to steal, they take it.

I feel a new video trend on the rise and it begins in Venice CA and extends to Venice.
