MODERATORS

We have been on 6 GB RAM since the 12 Pro, so for those hoping for an increase this year, it looks like it won’t happen.

Are there any phone apps in need of MORE? OS bloat and 3rd party back ground multi tasking are extremely tightly managed on iOS.

I was hoping with the introduction of USB-C the pro models might have a thunderbolt port and support a dex-style experience similar to stage manager on iPad os. More ram would have been helpful for that, but looks like I might not be getting what I dream of

And the only “technical” hurdle preventing this is that it would canibalizes iPad sales :-(

That actually would be pretty badass

Which means Apple probably won’t.

Yeah if they won’t let an iPad run MacOS this definitely isn’t happening

There is UTM which certainly benefits from more RAM.

@redcalcium @AlternateRoute
Technically, yeah of course. Though I think that people rather use it on Apple’s larger devices like iPads and MacBooks. It’s not that convenient to use virtual machines on small screens (although I understand it can be useful in some specific scenarios).

Gaming is also one use case where it's desirable to have more RAM.
