[SDF email] could you introduce yourself

Howdy. I've had an SDF shell account since 2006 at least. I can see mail in my outbox there with that date. Been dorking around with linux since the early 90s, and ran a fidonet node back then (on dos/DESQview!).

I live offgrid in a campervan with dogbeest Muffin. RIght now I am at ~8,200ft overlooking Los Alamos, NM.

and share your thoughts in regards to the Reddit migration and the Fediverse in the !sdfpubnix ?

I'd looked noncommittedly at Mastodon and Lemmy before, but had no real reason to invest the time. Before things got truly bad at Birdsite I test-drove Mastodon and liked it so much I stayed there and deleted my twitter account.

Based on that success I took another look at lemmy/kbin. Apparently the API Wars were starting but I was ignorant of them when I made a lemmy account.

I mod a couple tiny van-related subredits. So when I decided on lemmy over kbin I found my home here and started a community for people who live in cars, vans, and RVs. I am leaving the reddits subs open but with a sidebar link here. I'll probably post OC to both in the interim.

I have unsubbed from the gargantuan (2mil+) vandwellers subreddit there although I run some canned searches so I can help with niche questions in my wheelhouse. Hopefully by the end of the year I will transitioned fully from reddit to lemmy.
