What the fuck does even happen in dark souls? Part of why I gave up was having absolutely no clue what the story or setting was meant to be and therefore having no sense of direction or motivation. From what I recall something in the past with dragons and a bunch of fire and now I'm a dead guy in a hole who fights skeletons and leaves the hole and then proceeds to wander around for no specific reason.

The Gods grew fearful and jealous of the revolutionary and communistic nature of humanity and so cursed them to a never-ending cycle involving zombies and a glorified tournament arc where the victor sacrifices the souls of countless beings they've slain to sustain a physical but continuously diminishing ball of fire that somehow also metaphysically sustains the power of said gods

Humans are tricked into participating in this eternal Ponzi scheme through massive social engineering and religious propaganda that extols humans to reject their sinful nature and sacrifice themselves to save the world on behalf of the gods

I'm not kidding by the way, this is the meta of the series' plot

Was this in thr GameCube one? I didn't play that as much

Edit: I'm in a conversation about Kojima directing an Fzero game and got confused. Keeping it in

Look, I knew 2004 segw took over f zerosjd it's story for a game and it sounds pretty sonic and the never ending tournament thing sounds like a death race is plausible here.

Something about cleansing a taint and killing a loathsome dung eater

[–] GalaxyBrain@hexbear.net 8 points 1 week ago (1 children)

So you're cleansing the taint but someone else is the loathsome dung eater? Seems like a glass house situation here.

The moral of the story is "don't stow thrones"

[–] GalaxyBrain@hexbear.net 6 points 1 week ago

I bet that's funnier if you've played the game
