You can even trick people over video now using AI, and without too much effort. The next generation of scams is going to be really creepy, society isn’t even a little bit ready.
https://www.tavus.io/ is just one product already pushing the boundaries in this space
A creator got impersonated and a fan scammed out $17k. The detective even shows the creator an AI video impersonation. I can easily spot it as a fake but in a few years it'll be nearly impossible.

Happy ending. The victim got scammed $17k for a custom table she never got and the creator surprised her with her desired dream table.
Years? Yeah that'll be the end of this year, at most.
That's it, I'm only communicating with people that I can physically slap at the time of communication. Hopefully that buys me at least a decade.
Seriously though, this is the tech layer we all really need and I fear no one is developing. I don't mean the obvious "scan your digital government ID to start the call" but just the equivalent of a CAPCHA. Probably a hand mirror is all you really need.
What if they add virtual slapping with a trout?
That takes me back..
Do it properly, or don't do it at all: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=T8XeDvKqI4E
If I can figure out how to slap someone over tcp the internet might become usable again.
