They're such a lovely government.

Edit. Turns out it's legal.

"Australian Defense Minister Richard Marles stated on Thursday that the ships did not pose any threats and did not breach any maritime laws."

There ya go. Who'd have thought.

How dare they exist in international waters! Don't they know that belongs to the USA?

Turns out it’s legal

Why would that be relevant?

Live fire drills not unique, I don’t see how that says anything about the Chinese government

The actual unique part about it is that China seems to be turning around the logic of encirclement on its head.

US allied forces periodically conduct similar exercises near the coast of China (with build up of weapons as well), using the justification that they can do whatever they want in international waters.

Even Australia sends helicopters and other military equipment off the Chinese coast. The Chinese have decided to give Australia a taste of its own medicine.

Then change the title to "In international waters, live-fire drill off Australia is undertaken by the PLA"

[–] Sodium_nitride@lemmygrad.ml 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I didn't make the title. I just put the headline of the article as it was written.

Better you must use the liberal passive voice against them, than let them dictate such title.
