Hello everyone,

I'd like to know from Tuta users, why do you prefer it to proton?

Personally i use proton however after the recent fiasco it has inspired me to look beyond, and Tuta is a very popular option.

My question is: Why? Proton so far hasn't failed me, only disappointed. Is there any reason for me to switch to tuta in this case?

Peace to you all ✌️

Tuta was cheaper for me, but as I mentioned, they removed the 12€ plan, so if I had to choose now I don't know what I would take. Maybe Posteo, I don't need all the privacy features of Tuta and Proton.

I'm a cheap bastard, haha. My entire digital presence is completely built on free (as in beer, and mostly freedom) software. Free plans are pretty important to me, but pricing in general is meh. I was mainly focusing on features, privacy and benefits 😅

The features and benefits of "free stuff." Use whatever you want but paying for services can be good sometimes. If it's free, choose whatever you want.

I agree but not everyone can pay 135 for email. i'm a broke student, i'd rather spend my money more wisely. Eventually when i get the money i will start spending on stuff like this.

Besides, proton's free plan is pretty good. I'm asking if tuta is better in general.

Eventually when i get the money i will start spending on stuff like this.

When I was a young and broke loser, I never paid.

Once I got a proper job and secure my finances, I started paying because I realized that when I was using the services that were free, some FOSS enjoyers with financial means paid to make them free for me.

So this is my turn to pay back. I prefer service that have a free tier for this reason.

Either way, people of limited means should not suffer and privacy is a universal right.
