It's absolutely hilarious how European political mainstream created an echo chamber where the possibility of Trump winning was completely inconceivable. They bet everything on being able to hide behind America's skirts and are now left grappling with the fact that they have no friends left.

It might've been if Europe actually was independent. In practice, Europe is entirely dependent on the US militarily, which allows the US to dictate terms to Europe.
