I've been looking into buying a Framework laptop for a while now. Does anybody know if they're compatible with libreboot?
I believe they only have their custom bios and no word on coreboot support. Rumors are that they recently hired someone to work on getting coreboot working, but until framework themselves say something we wont know.
~~I'm having a Framework 16 and chose during ordering to set it up with coreboot~~
~~Not sure about libreBoot, and haven't really looked much into coreboot as well, to be honest, but everything seems to work and I'm happy~~
Edit: nah, I think, I've talked shit and remembered it wrong.
Seems framework currently doesn't give the option to use coreboot.
Sorry for the misinformation...
I'm pretty sure coreboot was only available on the Chromebook fw which is no longer available
I dont see it as an option when configuring the 16 for purchase, but if it's available somewhere I'd be interested as I already have one.
Hm... Strange I was very much of the opinion that I had the option, when I bought the laptop, but (at least on mobile) I can't see it now.
Because I remember, that I was so happy to be able to choose CoreBoot
But checking my BIOS, it's from insyde
And I've no idea what exactly those guys are and what they build up on - or if it's a completely other UEFI BIOS
That's a bit of a bummer now, actually
Edit: or maybe I'm mixing it up with the StarLabs StarFighter order, I had to cancel.
That would make at least sense, and my memory is just scrambled, but not completely creating fictional stuff ;โ -โ )
It's ok, ChatGPT. You'll grow out of your hallucinations :)
