the problem is mobile, using browser there sucks

[–] atomWood@lemm.ee 25 points 2 years ago (2 children)

Try using wefwef.app It’s a great mobile browser friendly way to access Lemmy.

[–] Jdreben@mastodon.world 13 points 2 years ago (4 children)
[–] rbits@lemmy.world 17 points 2 years ago (2 children)

No it's renamed to Voyager, vger is just the url

[–] JuvenoiaAgent@kbin.social 4 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Ha, a Star Trek reference, I like it.

[–] DaCrazyJamez@lemmy.world 8 points 2 years ago (1 children)

It's a reference to the Voyager space program, which followed the Apollo space program. Apollo was the name of the reddit app for iOS that was very popular, and had many of the same features

[–] samus12345@lemmy.world 3 points 2 years ago (1 children)

And the URL vger is a reference to this.

[–] randomuser38529@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago (1 children)

That’s weird. I’m currently on Memmy, when I tap your link it stops at V , skipping ‘ger entirely. Though I ended up inside of Memory Alpha, all I got was:

V

Memmy didn't copy the link correctly - the apostrophe is tripping it up. Search "V'ger" on Memory Alpha.

[–] Jdreben@mastodon.world 1 points 2 years ago

@rbits you are absolutely correct. I edited my post but edits may not propagate to all servers

This is really great, thank you very much!

I like Jerboa, but I have two lemmy accounts, and this will be a great improvement for browsing my second account.

[–] Uniquitous@lemmy.one 3 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Jerboa switches back and forth between accounts pretty well, I've found.

[–] LinkOpensChest_wav@beehaw.org 2 points 2 years ago

I didn't realize for some reason that I could do this ayyy

[–] squishy3000@sh.itjust.works 2 points 2 years ago

Fantastic experience, I endorse this webapp

[–] atomWood@lemm.ee 1 points 2 years ago

Oh, you’re totally right. I hadn’t noticed the change.

[–] burgersc12@sh.itjust.works 1 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) (1 children)

Easier to remember the m.lemmy.world link, should work for any instance afaik

[–] atomWood@lemm.ee 4 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Perhaps, but m.lemmy.world is just using wefwef anyway.

[–] burgersc12@sh.itjust.works 3 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

Its Voyager now, but there are many links that all connect to it. Just saying its easier to remember than wefwef since thats not even the name of the app anymore

[–] CalcProgrammer1@lemmy.ml 5 points 2 years ago (1 children)

The solution is Linux Mobile, where browser becomes the only option as apps don't tend to be available, but it's a full fledged browser so it can use all the appropriate addons. Typing this from my PinePhone Pro with keyboard case, postmarketOS, LibreWolf with the same addon set that I have on my desktop and laptop because Firefox Sync keeps everything synced together.

[–] refurbishedrefurbisher@lemmy.sdf.org 3 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) (1 children)

I mean, Waydroid exists, and so do native Linux Lemmy apps.

[–] CalcProgrammer1@lemmy.ml 1 points 2 years ago

True, but I was always an old.reddit user even when I used Reddit and Android (Firefox on Android). Now I use mlmym.org on my PinePhone. The experience is pretty much the same, except now I have a keyboard to type faster.

You can install Firefox Nightly and setup an addon collection on the FF website and use pretty much all desktop addons on your mobile Firefox browser. Then you can install TamperMonkey and search GreasyFork for custom usercripts that add enhancements to the website.

So, no, it's not a problem.

[–] becool@kbin.social 14 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Good advice but too smug for my taste. I give this post a C- and a downvote.

[–] BaroqueInMind@kbin.social 6 points 2 years ago

Thanks for the feedback.

[–] eric5949@lemmy.cloudaf.site 3 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

Or, I could just hit download in the play store and sign in. It's great you can do that. Not everyone wants to go through that effort though.

[–] ShustOne@lemmy.one 2 points 2 years ago

Or I could install Voyager and have a better user experience in 5 seconds. I love Firefox but the mobile experience is highly dependent on the care a site puts into their mobile site.

[–] DrJenkem@lemmy.blugatch.tube 2 points 2 years ago

PWA's are the happy place in-between browser and app on mobile. Voyager is great, especially when installed as a PWA.

[–] itsJoelle@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

Heck, I'm even using Voyager on my "desktop setup" iPad!

[–] Jaysyn@kbin.social -3 points 2 years ago

DuckDuckGo is magical.
