Which, come to think of it, is exactly what's happening here with people reposting the text.

Like, I agree that journalists need to get paid somehow, and that advertising is a cancerous model for that, but I just so, so do not have the budget for random news subscriptions.

No we didn't. We'd find them discarded at bus stops.....or read the news years later from the bottom of a bird cage. No, I don't mean WE'RE in a bird cage. I just mean someone we know owns a bird, and we look inside the birdcage.

Why would you line the bottom of a human size birdcage with newspapers??? That's just called a jail. That's silly. You're silly for even suggesting it, you silly goose!

OH NOW WE'RE BRINGING GEESE INTO THIS??? THAT'S IT! I'M OUT! GEESE ARE ASSHOLES!!!

While I get what you mean, it’s also important to note that, sadly, Bezos owns WaPo these days.

Newspapers use to cost pennies, like ¢ 25 in 2001.
Adjusted by inflation (calculator) = $ 0.44.

A year subscription to WaPo costs I think like $125, which is 35c per day. You’re saving 9 cents now. And most I think are significantly cheaper than that.
