We could create a new community to fix that?
Like a lemmy.world/c/all or lemmy.world/c/main

That would be better for general posts than posting on the community about the lemmy.world instance, but aren't new users (that mostly come from Reddit) not already used to subreddits? It should not be too hard to figure out how to post in the right community. If not, then maybe we need to help them with finding communities? Here on lemmy.world they should just be able to use the search option.

It seems to me that asklemmy@lemmy.ml is filling the role described, for the most part.

Yeah, I was thinking more if the new users needed a local and more general one.
