Hawk in my backyard (lemmy.autism.place)
submitted 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) by BackOnMyBS@lemmy.autism.place to c/penguinpebbles@lemmy.autism.place

My dog was growling at the backyard. I went to go check, and the hawk was back there smacking something in the grass with its foot. I didn't see what they were getting at, but they hung around for a little while scoping out the rest of the backyard.

I originally thought it was a Cooper's hawk, but now I'm unsure. This was in Florida. Please let me know if anyone can identify it.

I might have been mistaken. I compared their legs using the photos on this site. It looks like yours might actually be a true Cooper's hawk. Mine seems more like a red-tailed hawk. I'm uncertain though. Let all look too similar to me.

Penguins give each other pebbles to show they care about each other. Autistic people naturally do this with people they care about. It's a way of saying, "I found this really cool thing, it made me think about you, and I thought you'd like it."
