Not to be a clit...but why don;t they take in the Palestinians to begin with?

[–] fif-t@fedia.io 43 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago) (1 children)

Because of the lack of right of return.
That, and once Turkey accepts them, then what? It's a net negative for Turkey. More refugee mouths to feed that they can't patriate as citizens. And ones that can't return to where they're from.

I'm saying this as a Palestinian who grew up outside of Palestine, none of us have any right of return. That goes for all who leave now too.

Holy shit you mind I do a I do a request on https://lemmy.world/c/amarequests to ask you a bunch of questions if you are okay with it?

[–] fif-t@fedia.io 36 points 3 months ago (2 children)

I think I'll pass for now.

I'm exhausted enough having to explain things to my friends and educate them, combatting western media narratives in real time, let alone strangers on the internet.

[–] MrVilliam@lemmy.world 9 points 3 months ago

Not trying to push you into doing anything you aren't comfortable with, but a lot of people could really benefit from having a real source get info on this from. I know it's not your responsibility to educate us, nor are your opinions necessarily representative of everybody in Palestine, but most people just believe whatever they see on mainstream media. And generally, that means bullshit like fox news way more than Al Jazeera or BBC or NPR or whoever has the least biased news these days.

If nothing else, please keep educating your friends and anybody else in personal circles. If enough people do that, the info will hopefully trickle out to enough of the rest of us to generate outrage in order to influence real change in terms of support for Palestine. Cheers.

When ever you are ready. I always leave questions for people to answer. But whenever you are ready I have so many questions besides the small amount I posted. Also thank you just for being awesome......no sarcasm.

Hi there! Looks like you linked to a Lemmy community using a URL instead of its name, which doesn't work well for people on different instances. Try fixing it like this: !amarequests@lemmy.world

You mean assist with Israel's ethnic cleansing?

[–] Crikeste@lemm.ee 24 points 3 months ago

Because Palestine is their home.

[–] jordanlund@lemmy.world 7 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Turkey does not have a good track record supporting oppressed minorities:

Don't forget the Armenians

[–] Tovervlag@feddit.nl 7 points 3 months ago (1 children)

They would only do that if they got money in return. They would be in camps as well.

[–] Don_Dickle@lemmy.world -1 points 3 months ago (2 children)

Then why does the middle east care about them? I am 40 years old and in my life have never seen or heard of a country that would accept them.

[–] alvvayson@lemmy.dbzer0.com 21 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Why doesn't the USA or Europe just accept the Jews and let the Palestinians have the land?

Jordan especially has a ton of Palestinians. More than half of Palestinians already live outside of Palestine.

Your question actually boils down to, why don't they take all the Palestinians so Israel can have the land?

And the answer is: they don't want to be complicit in ethnic cleansing.

[–] Petter1@lemm.ee -1 points 3 months ago

The thing is, that the generation of people grown up in Isreal are now home there too, even if their parents moved there unjustified..

I think it is not that USA and EU are not accepting jews.

I just wish that someday all people realise how dumb religions are and that we should just be nice to each other

[–] MossyFeathers@pawb.social 5 points 3 months ago

I think it's 90% performative and 10% "we want to do something but don't have the resources". I imagine Palestine is a really hot topic among Muslim-majority countries, and as such ignoring Palestine would be a bit like if the US suddenly stopped ~~pretending to care~~ caring about Freedom^TM^.

[–] herrvogel@lemmy.world 3 points 3 months ago

It'd be political suicide. A very justified one, I might add. Turkey has already taken on WAAAY too many refugees over the last years, and the consequences have become pretty bad. It's a hot topic right now. Even his supporters are sick of his immigration policies, which he's been using as a way to import voters by fast tracking them to full citizenship.

[–] idegenszavak@sh.itjust.works 2 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Last time someone took in a lot of Palestinians en masse resulted in a civil war: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_September

It's more complex than that, but usually that's why a lot of countries don't want to help that way.

[–] Don_Dickle@lemmy.world 0 points 3 months ago

LMAO I am currently reading the book about them and the wiki page. Have not finished yet but will tell you when I finish both.
