Musk didn't buy Twitter to control the conversation, he bought it because his ego was too massive to just shut the fuck up for a minute and admit it was a stupid idea.

He tried to pull out after he came to the same realization literally everyone had been shouting at him for months but was legally in too deep.

It's an ego thing. he wanted to be cool. Like Myspace tom.

keep in mind that even at what he paid for it, it's still not a loss he's going to really feel. It's the difference between his grandkids having their own G280 vs them having their own G800 gulfstream.

He wanted to pretend to be interested long enough to read Amber Heards DMs and then back out. He didn’t count on Twitter wanting to sell.

I like the theory that he only wanted a reason to sell a large amount of Tesla shares without causing a panic sell.
