I have an older model MBP (2009 era) that's still running great with Linux. No hardware or software complaints. I installed a new battery in it about a year ago and it's time for a new calibration, I think. What are some tips to fully optimize the life of the battery?

The unfortunate truth is that your probably only going to get 2 years at max capacity, and about 6 years total out of a battery. Any more than that you should consider yourself on borrowed time.
