Says the person tying to claim humans are supposed to be herbivores.
That paper is making some absolutely ridiculously unscientific comparisons, and immediately ignores the existence of omnivores after flatly stating that most people eat an obvious diet. It's absolute trash.
For me, personally, I agree that the industrial meat industry is unethical and has to go. My push-back against the herbivore claims is purely from an objective standpoint. Putting aside objectivism, if humans are omnivores, it makes the moral argument stronger. You'd be telling people they have a choice and can choose to eat a more compassionate and ethical diet. (More energy efficient, too.) If people are herbivores, you get stuck in this weird argument about what humans are supposed to do instead of what we can choose to do.
I spent a lot of time as a vegan, and talked about my choices openly. (Stopped on account of health.) No one attacked me for them and it was because I stuck to irrefutable facts and never made the person I was talking to feel bad for their choices. I just showed them they could easily be a better human, if they wanted to be. Maybe that doesn't feel like enough for you, but I felt that no one ever changed their position on a personal matter because someone else made them feel attacked. They always dig in their heels.
And then it just completely goes downhill from here... Show me a single fucking herbivore that has hands. 👎
Also you realize it's possible that creatures can evolve into omnivores from prolong environmental pressure, right? Are you not familiar with evolution? Did you sleep through life science?
Also, you realize that from that same exact source there are thousands of papers and studies contradicting that paper. You might as well become a farmer with how well you pick cherries.
Gorillas are omnivores.
Pandas are ex-carnivores who've transitioned to a specialized herbivore diet over millions of years of evolution do to environmental factors. Additionally, you realize bamboo has a shit ton of protein and carbohydrate in a ratio similar to a hypercarnivores diet, right? That's how they were able to transition in the first place, Pandas digestive system and gut microbiome still resemble carnivores, they're not typical herbivores. In fact pandas have been known to occasionally snack on meat and consume small animals or carrion, aligning them as super picky omnivores.
And PANDAS DO NOT HAVE HANDS, not a single fucking species of bear has hands. They have specialized paws with pseudo-thumbs which is actually a modified wrist bone to grip and eat bamboo, not true hands.
Similar to Panda's, Koalas have specialized paws with curved claws adapted for gripping and climbing trees, not hands.
At least you got 1 thing right, Gorilla's have hands.
Go tell Pandas to stop occasionally & opportunistically snacking on small animals. You seem to love pushing your veganism, so why don't you go do that to the pandas?
Not a single thing I said was contradictory.
Do you even know what happens when a true herbivore eats meat? It leads to digestive problems like Peritonitis, organ damage, severe diarrhea and vomiting and malnutrition over time, their digestive systems are adapted for breaking down plant matter, not animal flesh. Herbivores lack the enzymes and acidic stomach environment needed to properly digest meat; Pandas as already shown don't have this issue.
I'm thoroughly convinced you slept through life science. It's a waste of time talking to you.
Just as you shown me; the take away I've learned is that Vegans argue the same way that fucking flat earthers argue and that's honestly sad.
