My bad, for some reason I had it in my mind it was similar situation to reservations in the US. Technically independent, but technically kind of not.

Israel isn't a real country. It's too tiny. It's also right next to the Gaza strip. Nuking Gaza would make Gaza a part of no country and would irradiate most of Israel.
