Honest question since you mentioned it in the sidebar. I've heard about bread being bad, but never about feeding them peas!

It is not really nutritious and so fills the belly with junk food. And if some bread does not get eaten then it can damage the environment.
From what i understand it is not the worst thing to do but every time junk food is not healthy.
And even that explanation is not good...
When feeding ducks i suggest worms or peas. I think peas can often be brought cooled what could be nice in the summer

I'm guessing peas are good because they are much closer to their natural food of water plants and such but are still presumably sweeter and taste better?
