A "Showerthought" is a simple term used to describe the thoughts that pop into your head while you're doing everyday things like taking a shower, driving, or just daydreaming. A showerthought should offer a unique perspective on an ordinary part of life.

Rules

  1. All posts must be showerthoughts
  2. The entire showerthought must be in the title
  3. Avoid politics
    1. NEW RULE as of 5 Nov 2024, trying it out
    2. Political posts often end up being circle jerks (not offering unique perspective) or enflaming (too much work for mods).
    3. Try c/politicaldiscussion, volunteer as a mod here, or start your own community.

Corona wasn't supporting the virus, it just happened to have the same name. If Corona experienced any loss of sales because of the name then people are incredibly stupid.

Losing sales because of partnering with a spokesperson with different sexual identity is worse.

And it wasn't even a full partnership, it was a single commemorative can. No one else in the world had that one can, there were no plans to sell more.

But the absolute worst thing was when AB InBev decided to walk back their tepid support of trans rights over the backlash. They pissed off the bigots for doing what was basically nothing, and then disavowed that nothing into pissing off the LGBT+ and general left leaning community.

I don't think just partnering with any random trans person is what upset people- but I might be wrong
