In reality KDE projects should start with GNU/K, because thr KDE desktop environment is just a small part of the GNU operating system, which is actually the core of the operating system.

/sarcasm

I know you're joking, but KDE is much more than just a Linux desktop environment. They make all sorts of software working on all sorts of operating systems. I use Kdenlive on windows for example. And 90% of browsers nowadays use a fork of KDEs KHTML rendering engine.

Wow, I didn't know about the KHTML rendering engine! I also use kdenlive for (small) video editing; but I don't like that it has too many dependencies (it even installed the phone link thingy)

KDE is my second favorite DE, after XFCE

KDE can run on the BSDs tho, or Alpine (I think)
