Well, the corporate wing of the DNC was in charge for a long time. That power is fraying, mostly because that part of the party is aging out.
However, they're still mostly in charge, and being the corporate wing, they're staunch capitalists, pro-business, and in many ways Republican-Lite in terms of economic policy especially.
There's surely plenty of good Democrats, they're totally outweighed by the entire Republican party plus the corporate obstructionist efforts within their own party. It's literally a fight against a good 60% of governance to get anything done with 50% being Republican obstructionism and 10% being Democrat.
It's not a huge amount of Democrats, but it doesn't take that many.
