Rockstar Games, a division of Take-Two Interactive Software Inc., plans to announce the next highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto game as early as this week, according to people familiar with its plans.

The company plans to then publish a trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI next month to celebrate Rockstar’s 25th anniversary, said the people, who asked to not be identified because they weren’t authorized to speak publicly. A spokesperson for Rockstar didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment sent after business hours.

Let's assume all of this is true, we really have to prepare ourselves for this game to not live up to its hype. The fans have recreated the hype that cyberpunk got which could result in just as much of a let down

I'm gonna say it probably will live up to the hype. My fear is the monitisation of GTA 6 Online. It's gonna be wild.

Fuck online. Use FiveM (likely to be called SixM when it releases) and find cool people

[–] teamevil@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

What's FiveM? I refused to play GTA online.

[–] JJROKCZ@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago

It probably won’t, mostly because they’re going to be too focused on squeezing every fucking dime possible out of GTA6-online instead of time on the part of GTA that made rockstar a successful studio 20+ years ago, the single player story.

I don’t give a rat’s tits about GTAonline and will not play that garbage so I hope they spent time on the actual game, I’ll wait for reviews and streamers to get their hands on it before thinking about buying it

Single player will be decent if a bit underwhelming, online will be a fucking train wreck. I'm not hyped. I honestly don't care. I'll get it when it's on sale at a large discount a few years down the line and I'll likely not bother with online.

As long as the single-player campaign is alright and there's a lot to the open world (which Rockstar always did well) the game will be good. If you care about gta online however, well, you should know what to expect.

[–] helloharu@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

I'm definitely expecting that at this stage. Not sure it could ever live up to the hype its garnered.

It couldn't possibly worst than GTA5, most of the content is online only and the story is okay.
