I know I said last week I would post these on Monday, but did you know that in most of the world it is already Monday? It's true! Time math can be weird. (Plus, I have early meetings for work tomorrow and won't get a chance to make the post, so here it is instead)

Do you have any thoughts on the Fall season so far? Any shows surprised you? Disappointed you? Made you cry ugly tears?

This is also a place to post about any anime, not just currently airing shows, so feel free to post about that random old show that you aren't sure whether you dreamed it up or if it actually aired on Toonami when you were a kid.

The only rule* in the discussion thread is to tag your spoilers!

I binge-watched Wonder Egg Priority on Saturday, on one hand it is charming as fuck with a great cast of characters while also being very empathetic with a range of difficult topics, on the other

spoilerit fell into the trap of thinking it needed some grandiose plot and undermined some of early established plot points by the end, it also just straight up gave some very disgusting reasoning for early unresolved stuff.

That being said, the trans representation in this anime is great and the good stuff, specially in the first half, is so good it's probably gonna stick to me for a while.

I also watched Perfect Blue for the first time and that was also great, I've managed to go in without being spoiled anything and it was a ride, that's for sure.

Perfect Blue is one of those movies that I have always seen discussions about but I have never sat down to actually watch it (I don't watch many movies compared to shows). I finally got around to watching Your Name in the early pandemic for example. So I will have to make the time to sit down and check out Perfect Blue as well. Thanks for the reminder about it.

Same, I always seen people talk about it but never seen it myself until 3 days ago. I only saw it because a video I wanted to watch mentioned it and it ended up being pretty great, it's really well made.

I've been putting off watching Your Name for years at this point, is it as good as everyone online says it is?

In my opinion, Your Name is an excellent movie. I am not sure how much you know, but if possible, I would recommend going in as blind as you can. I have read some reviews that criticize the plot being convoluted or full of holes, but I feel like a lot of those come from a place of wanting to be contrarian for the sake of it. There is a reason it has 98% on RT and is #1 most popular title on AniList. Also, if you are a fan of animation as an art, the movie is absolutely gorgeous.

Enjoy!

You convinced me, I'll watch it when I get the chance. Thanks!
