MODERATORS

We all know their true colors. They have the aggression of your typical Reddit mods^TM^, who are power-tripping and permabanning users on steroids. Mods are users on steroids, so admins are on steroids' steroids. Admins are the niceguy^TM^ version of Reddit mods^TM^. Enough fooling around; you see how abusive someone in power can be? Don't even be fooled by their kind attitude. They won't hesitate to show you their true colors.

I know we’re all on the Reddit hate train right now, and I am right on there with you in that. Fuck spez and fuck any Reddit employee who isn’t trying to discreetly sabotage Reddit’s efforts (even if it’s as small an action as being unusually slow in their work) while searching for a better job opportunity elsewhere. But I have two major problems with this post.

  1. What’s with all the attacks on mods? Without the work of mods, none of this protest would have ever happened. There are a few bad mods out there, for sure. But the vast majority of mods do what they do because of a love of their community.
  2. It’s not actually clear that in this screenshot the admin has done anything wrong. As shitty as their actions have been in regards to their response to the protests, they do still need to make sure users aren’t being harassed and their site isn’t hosting actually-illegal content. And where they’re doing that, I’m not going to side with the person preventing them doing that job. It certainly looks like the mod in this instance is the one doing the wrong thing. I could be wrong and it could be that the content Reddit is calling harassment is actually completely benign and it’s an excuse by Reddit to fuck over good mods, but no evidence has been presented to suggest that.
