I can still remember the relief that came with deciding there is nothing the world would be willing to grant me, regardless of effort, that could approach the simple pleasure of escaping into a better world that, honestly, isn't significantly more artificial than the rigged, propagandized capitalist construct they want us to beat ourselves, and one another, to death in the name of.
So you're saying if I work 80 hour weeks for decades I might gain the world's respect and enough in game currency to start pursuing actual passions beyond making an entitled fancy lad/lass born into the owner class richer?
Yeah, that's gonna be a no from me dawg. Even if you're a lucky "winner" who worked really hard and didn't get betrayed by the owners or outcompeted by your fellow peasants, you had to adopt exploitative, greedy, sociopathic values to do so. If that's cool with you, cool, that's a non-starter for me. I've no interest in participating in the "judge one another by socioeconomic status" game. Especially when it's oddly proud of the fact that most start with little to nothing and a few already own every space on the board. That's a deeply broken game, one there seems to be very little will to patch.
This collapsing civilization's disapproval means nothing, as I've seen what makes it cheer. If you're smart, find your bliss and bring a blanket.
Like joining a monopoly game that is already running for a couple of rounds.
"something something bootstraps. Something something can-do attitude. Something something pay my dues."
I once found it tragic, but as I get older, the number of self-hating peasants that literally preach the tissue paper thin propaganda of their owners grows more humorous every year.
Keep kicking at that football, Charlie. They'll let you kick it next time for sure. Right after Wall Street whips it's dick out and rains down golden showers of prosperity on you.
Their pissing something on you when you believe that, sure isn't prosperity though. 😂
That's exactly how I view a good life today, I feel pity for every person who falls for the capitalist's game hoping to be rewarded. I see them burn their life away on a never ending quest that they'll be rich one day and able to finally live life, but even if they do get to that point, which they probably won't, they'll be too far gone to be able to appreciate what really makes life special.
Recently though I've had enough, I can't sit around looking at all those crimes against the common people for the rich men's profits, I feel it like my moral duty to do the most I can to fight the system and open the people's eyes so that hopefully one day they can snap out of the cynical lies they've been fed that this is the best we've got.
Definitely, take what you can now don't wait til you're old and unable to work to finally start living, even if you're lucky enough to make it there you might not have anything left of your body to enjoy it with.
I would say it's still important to find your joys in life, outside of the screen where you can as well. Even if it's something as simple as a good meal, that's something.
Very similar to bottom tier character monologue.
