Archlinux: yay -S lunas

i made a versatile syncing cli program, lunas, that's capable of syncing local to local, local to remote, remote to local and remote to remote at the same time with many input directories, with their file attributes if enabled and more. It syncs both ways but it has src/dest options that can be assigned to individual input directories

it runs locally, unless remote syncing is used then it runs peer-to-peer using libssh/sftp

It can do sync removal between different input directories, meaning if u want to remove a file/directory that you don't want to sync back to other directories, you can "lunas -rm file" for local or "lunas -rrm user@ip:/path/to/dir" for remote and then use the option "-cr Y" while syncing to remove it from every other directories, or simply don't use this option and it should be ignored without removal, or "-cr S" and it should be synced back to the directory it was removed from, IF it was found in one of the other directories

it has an optional config file for defining presets for easier syncing instead of writing them each time in the cli

there are more options to it which can be found in the --help or in the man page for more details

a simple usage of lunas can be like this

lunas -p dir1 -p dir2 --dry-run

lunas -s dir1 -d dir2 -d dir3 -rd user@ip:dir4

lunas -r user@ip:dir1 -d dir2 -dr

lunas -rs user@ip:dir1 -d dir2 -cr Y

lunas -rd user@ip:dir1 -s dir2

lunas -p dir1 -p dir2 -p dir3 -p user@ip:dir4 -p user@ip:dir5

p: local path r: remote path , both of them are source and destination

s: source local path d: destination local path

rs: source remote path rd: destination remote path

-dr/--dry-run: outputs what would be synced without actually syncing them

-cr/--confirm-remove Y: confirms the sync removal as explained previously

I've tried installing it about a dozen times over the past year, but it always gives an "unable to get image" error. So I'm wondering if there's an alternative that does everything paperless does...but lets me use it

Looking for a music player that will do a good job of loading album art. It all looks great in PlayerPro, but I tried Auxio and Aplayer but they didn't do a great job of pulling in the album art. Tracks were also incorrectly lumped together with mixed albums/artists.

Any recommendations?

I saw that there's Best-Before on F-Droid, but the last release was in July 2022, and I was curious if there was something more actively maintained.

I just noticed that my HeliBoard icon in the list of apps has a green dot to the left of the name below the icon itself. I have no idea what it means -- it seems to be different form the privacy green dot you may get in the top notification area.

Also, I've noticed that when I type, not only do some things get underlined in red (I think it's for misspelling), but also in blue. Any idea what that means?

Due to people complaining last time I posted about this: GNU Taler is a privacy preserving payment system, but not a crypto-currency.

The projects they want to make safer includes Linux, curl, sudo, among others.

Just found it and I think this will be interesting for this community.

I rely on Bitwarden (slooowly migrating from... a spreadsheet...) and am thinking of keeping a master backup to be SyncThing-synchronized across all my devices, but I'm not sure of how to secure the SyncThing-synchronized files' local access if any one of my Windows or Android units got stolen and somehow cracked into or something. I'm curious about how others handle theirs. Thanks in advance for sharing!

Curious about both android and iOS because I want to know what to recommend to friends. I'm asking about Google Drive because that's what is simplest for my peers right now.

With Facebook adding AI directly into messenger, I have some people wanting to switch to Signal. However I'm not confident in my process for backups.

Right now I'm using FolderSync which is working well. The problem is deletion, where the deleted file sticks around in the trash for 30 days, eating up storage space until I manually delete it. Since the Signal backups can get quite large, the trashed backups are enough to put me over the limit.

I didn't try WhatsApp that long, but it had a built-in feature to backup to Google Drive. I don't need that level of simplicity, but something close would be nice.

When senders initialize a transfer, they receive a "tempalink" they can distribute to recipients. Upon visiting this link, recipients' browsers connect directly to the sender’s browser and may begin downloading the selected file. Because data is never stored in an intermediary server, the transfer is fast, private, and secure. Open Source maintainers and developers have been warned about the continued wave of attacks aimed at project maintainers similar to those recently targeting the Linux xz data compression library, XZ Utils [linuxsecurity.com].

I'm looking for an audio app for learning tunes by ear. Ideally would have:

1- slow playback, without adjusting pitch.
2- loop selection - to play a segment of the audio over and over
3- pitch adjustment (some old recordings are out of tune)

Anyone have one they like? For android the closest I've found is Fossify music player, which offers feature 1.

For PC, audacity has all these features, but its pretty clunky to use.

What's your pick?

I find myself frequently downloading large files on my android phone from servers that aren't always the fastest. These downloads can range from audio and video files to zip and rar files.

I'm on the lookout for an app that will allow me to resume downloads that have failed, as well as choose where to save each file individually.

So far, I've only come across apps that have been discontinued.

Do you happen to know of any good, regularly updated apps that fit the bill?
