In all seriousness. Even though this thing is worth a fortune: For those who loved the portability of the New Nintendo 3DS Edition compared to the more bulky Switch, we can actually play the Wii U Edition in the 3DS dual-screen form factor with emulation now! This is awesome! Of course, you can play the Java Edition, but that loses some charm that the old Legacy Console Editions have. Plus, Wii U Edition has update aquatic!

Hey everyone! Ever wonder what goes on in the heads of those Minecraft characters staring back at you from the trailers? Me too! Sadly Google didn't have much so I dove into the trailers and animations, and here's what I came up with for our character crew.

Starting with what I call the "core group" due to them being very interconnected:

Steve: Our trusty Steve, the classic Minecraft avatar, seems to be the knowledge bank of the group. He's got a redstone-powered base (shared with Alex it seems) and loves tinkering with books (even using them as keys for fancy redstone doors!). While well-rounded, Steve's combat skills seem a bit...rusty. He often finds himself in pickles, leaving Alex to save the day. He seems to have also lost some of his netherite gear from 1.16. Still, he can definitely hold his own when needed.

Alex: Once the new kid on the block, Alex is now Steve's right-hand woman. She's a total boss, rocking combat skills but also brains, helping Steve with redstone projects and even taking charge with some. They seem to share a base and are the most geared-up adventurers, sporting a few pieces of netherite armor. Alex seems to have kept her full set while Steve lost some. Alex rides a camel, but otherwise tackles challenges solo or with Steve. Both are jacks of all trades, using various features without a clear favorite (except Alex's love for camels, of course!).

Efe: The adventurous spirit of the group, Efe has a knack for exploring the less-used features. We see her using a spyglass, hunting for a trident, rocking the Frost Walker enchantment, and riding pigs (because who needs horses or camels?). While not fearless, Efe's more willing to take risks to get what she wants. She might share a cozy house with a fire pit (the group hangout) with Sunny, but that's unconfirmed.

Sunny: The chill rancher and fisherman, Sunny's all about raising camels and spending quality time fishing. He seems to take a calmer approach, rarely putting himself in danger on purpose (except when it comes to rescuing chickens from ancient cities). Sunny's a friendly dude, very easygoing (and a personal favorite along with Efe). He might have a small house with a fire pit (the group hangout) that he shares with Efe, but that's still up in the air.

Noor: Completing the core group, Noor's another animal lover. He's befriended tadpoles, frogs, allays, and a whole pack of wolves! While Sunny's the rancher/fisherman, Noor seems more like a pet collector (gotta catch 'em all!). He enjoys fishing too, but not quite as much as Sunny. Noor's the only one without a clear partner – when the group splits, Alex and Steve stick together, as do Efe and Sunny, but Noor goes his own way.

Ari: A bit on the shy side, Ari prefers hiding behind objects to charging into the action. She seems fascinated by archaeology, frequently seen with brushes and hanging out in deserts. The only other character she actively interacts with is Noor, as they've been seen mining together. Despite her curiosity and adventurous spirit, Ari might be shy or just enjoy some alone time.

Makenna: Seems to have gotten the short end of the stick, screen time-wise. We see her farming with Kai, and that's pretty much it. Not much else is known about her, except for using an elytra once. Hopefully, Mojang gives her a chance to shine in the future!

Zuri: Another character who deserves more love! Zuri's a super friendly and talented builder, but we only see him hanging out with Sunny once, with brief interactions with the others. Alex visits him and his sniffers after a battle, so he's making friends! I do hope he gets more time to bond with the others though. He loves building, sniffers, camels, and pandas, and seems drawn to peaceful biomes like cherry groves and bamboo forests. His main base is in a Cherry Grove, with a possible mini-base in the bamboo jungle (though that might not be official).

Kai: Last but sadly least, Kai farms with Makenna. And...that's it. From some images, she seems to have a silly side, mimicking an evoker's outfit, but I am not sure if this is official. If so that makes her the only one other than Steve and Alex to use non-iron gear. There's also a hint she might be a builder who likes cherry wood like Zuri. Here's hoping they become friends if Mojang fleshes out her character more!

That is what I was able to find for each of them, they are all very similar though. It is almost like these are just skins that are meant to not have a personality and just be an avatar for the player... Nah. My personal favourites are Efe and Sunny, I love the laid back aditude of Sunny and the off beat fun experimentation of Efe. If I missed anything please let me know!

If you hit enter while anywhere in the creative menu, it switches to the search tab. Very useful.

The maps took me so long to make I burned out and never finished the inside. I did have some banners for sale, I thought it would feel like browsing through posters.

Hi all :)

I've been playing Minecraft with the family, and running a local PaperMC server for a while now, and last year set up an online server with the Oracle free tier. I've had a load of failed login attempts recently, and the server crashed. I don't know if they were related, but it made me realise that I've missed a few steps during the setup.

I have a domain that points to the server through Cloudflare, so it's easier to share, and I've got a whitelist / allowlist of Minecraft users to keep it private. My thinking is that this is what I want:

Domain name through Cloudflare to stop things like DDoS attacks, and to have https certificates (might need LetsEncrypt too?).

PaperMC server running on an Ubuntu server on Oracle's free tier. 2 cores and 10GB RAM should be enough for less than a dozen players.

Pterodactyl control panel to manage the server through a GUI from anywhere.

Firewall / block to stop connections from outside the UK. Hopefully that should restrict bots and malicious login attempts.

I've got a handful of plugins that I use, like Geyser / Floodgate and ViaVersion so the kids can log in from any client, and Dynmap so I can view the map and help them out if needs be. I've got CoreProtect and ServerBackup too. I've got OpenAudioMC so that the kids can speak to each other without putting them on something open like Discord, as they're too young for that.

I'm looking into AutoPlug at the moment to keep the plugins up to date, but I don't know if it runs with Pterodactyl or not.

Am I missing anything obvious? I'm happy with the gameplay side of things for now, but I could do with some advice on keeping everything secure.

Thanks in advance :)

I recently started watching Grian's hermit craft season playlists and watching them back to back, it feels like Grian is burning himself out as he repeats the same mistake.

TLDR; he keeps getting stuck planning huge mega builds that require so much grinding he gets stuck in procrastination cycles. He needs to break things down into small pieces (a building, tunnel, etc..) and learn to iterate towards a vision.

In each season he will quickly jump to mega scale for any project (the Tower, The Mansion, The Ally & The Entity). The issue with each project is any significant progress requires a huge amount of grinding and you see his avoidance of the main base gets worse with each season.

We do see large scale projects and the Entity and Barge actually shows the problem.

The barge started small and iteratively enlarged as the number of items increased, he then created 'big plans' schemed to get extra space and never fulfilled them. The next iteration became too much of a grind and he was clearly working hard to keep the current shop stocked.

Simialy the Entity went through quick iterations a rock, a Rock with a tree, a wheel, then it walked and he talks of his big plans at the end of the episode but he clearly started avoiding the entity because the plans became too much of a grind.

I thought he had gotten it at the end of Season 9, as he moved towards so many 'small' projects which results in a huge affect in the area.

In Season 10 he talks about taking it slow, but I really don't think he understands.

The dock was a perfect example, he was doing a lot of fishing and building a hut around the spot was a great idea and I found really interesting to watching. Building a secret vault would have been a great episode, similarly the Salmon tunnel was fantastic. Building each aspect for an episode would have been taking it slow.

You can see he is already avoiding his 'mega' build and yet again the opportunity to break stuff down was there. The bone meal farm being built and boxed in would have been a great episode, but you already know he has built a stucture and its going to hang around for months as he gets twisted up trying to design/plan a huge series of fronts and increasingly wants to avoid

Hi guys, my brother, father and I created a Minecraft skeleton grinder ambience video, to be used as a sort of virtual fireplace.

Feel free to use it for your own purposes.

More information can be found on this GitHub page.

I linked the FitMC video because he does a decent job explaining it at a basic level and the SpawnMasons, a 2B2T group, are behind the GitHub post.

The original title of the video was "RANDAR: Minecraft's Most DANGEROUS Exploit" but that was a bit too clickbait for me.

I am thinking of starting a hardcore world after my boyfriend told me about how he has a world he started since 2017. I’m just not sure if I want to play vanilla or a mod pack.

I have never seen this anywhere. This could be as rare as 5-6 tall cactus.

I need it for a super important tutorial video I'll be making soon I don't want to use Fandom to look for it and for some reason I can't find it on the regular Minecraft wiki.

This was a design I made in a creative world almost a year ago that uses both a thing banner pattern and a creeper charge banner pattern. After raiding two ancient cities I only found one god apple which I didn't want to use for this. Third ancient city had 5 god apples and I'm not even done raiding it.

A new #Minecraft snapshot 24w14potato appeared, adding an entire new dimension, blocks, mobs, paintings and many more. All of them, poisonous 🥔 themed.

Are poisonous potatoes the best Minecraft food? Who exactly is Potatolord of the Fried Legion? We may or may not learn answers to these questions with this very snapshot.

As usual, check out #MinecraftWiki page covering the snapshot, updated as we learn more at https://minceraft.wiki/w/Java_Edition_24w14potato

How do i find stuff around ? Like ruins, castles and such - how do i find all the nice materials and templates i read about on the wiki? I know what to look for, just wanted to get some pointers on how to explore more.

Playing pure vanilla, having a server on which kid and me are building.

I’m tempted to start making oddly specific small statues made of random materials, maybe with limbs pointing to the previous statue in a sequence. Is there a better method?
