I took my wife's car into the dealership for a warranty a few weeks ago and while they were checking stuff, they said the car needed 1300 dollars of work (piston soak and replace some transmission parts). I ended up doing the soak with my grandpa and took it to a shop for the transmission (wasnt even an issue, just a rivot replacement on a wheel well cover) and ended up saving 700 dollars after accounting for tools, jacks, jack stands, etc.

I want to start working on my own cars for things that can be done easily without expensive specialized tools, and I might be buying a house in the next year. I just want to start getting a decent collection of tools to hopefully save money in the long run.

I currently have a huge range of screwdrivers, soldering equipment, plyer set, socket set, file set, wire cutters and a small tool kit with some misc stuff.

I am mainly looking towards a torque wrench and a good spanner/wrench set, but looking for suggestions on what to get. Holding off on power tools until I wrap my head around brands and batteries.

Summary

Sweden has requested the Chinese ship Yi Peng 3 to return to its waters to aid in investigating recent damage to undersea fiber-optic cables connecting Finland-Germany and Sweden-Lithuania, which occurred on Nov. 17-18.

While Swedish PM Ulf Kristersson has avoided direct accusations, Western intelligence suspects the Chinese vessel’s involvement, though opinions differ on whether the incidents were accidental or deliberate.

The ship remains under surveillance in Denmark’s economic zone.

Similar incidents in the Baltic Sea have raised concerns amid regional geopolitical tensions. China has pledged cooperation.

So, I'm making this post because I'm currently torn between 3 options:

• Upgrade my current T450 with 16GB of DDR3 and a 256GB (or maybe 512GB) NVME which has an i5-5300u and 1080p display
• Get a T14(s) G1 with an AMD CPU (for about 400 euros or so)
• Save up for a long time to buy a Framework laptop

The role of the laptop would be to do some software dev tasks and some light gaming (think ULTRAKILL, Minecraft and KSP, so really not anything that can't run on a good enough iGPU). Battery isn't much of a priority, since I'll use it plugged in most of the time, but it is preferred for when I do need it, nevertheless I don't wish to sacrifice CPU performance for it like what my T450 does when it crawls to 800MHz to extend its battery life from 4 hours to 5 hours (it has a dual 3-cell setup, both batteries at about 75% health). While I can save up a lot for a Framework or even a T14 Gen 5/6, I'd rather not because I just don't find it worth it for the price, and because It'd wear down my patience. Another large priority is durability, I am insanely clumsy. For example, one time I dropped my T450 at the very edge of a table so that it hit my foot and broke its old 1366x768 panel (good riddance, that resolution was atrocious). From what I can remember, most ThinkPads are in some way MIL-STD certified (80G or 80H depending on the model IIRC), starting with (unfortunately for my T450) the T460. I'd also like at least an FHD or higher display, but everything I've listed passes that. The only real benefit here for a Framework is the "eternal laptop" concept where I don't have to replace the laptop itself, ever, because I can just upgrade the parts in a Thesseus' ship kind of way, like some desktop users do, but parts are scarce here in Greece, especially for Frameworks, so I'd have to get them shipped from their website which is not ideal. If there are any other ThinkPad options (available in Greece!) at about the price of the T14, then I'd be glad to hear them.

To conclude, here are my priorities, grouped from highest priority to lowest priority:

• Available in Greece, preferrably at a physical store
• CPU Performance, Durability
• Resolution, Repairability
• Battery life

back in the ubuntu days I used radiotray, but it seems not to be maintained anymore.

my next question is: is https://github.com/ebruck/radiotray-ng/releases/tag/v0.2.9 being maintained? it was last updated nov 10, but the page doesn't list the year.

I've also found some flatpak radio packages. Should I disregard radiotray and try any flatpak radio application?

What I liked of radiotray is that it was minimalist, simply click on it, choose a radio station and that was it, I didn't need to open a whole suite just to listen to radio online. Adding station was also very easy, just pasting a url.

Apparently they have been around since 1890, although I don't think they've been making shirts the whole time. I just wonder if they started mass-producing shirts before or after the Ralph Lauren brand.
