Hi there, am looking for a new and powerful laptop that can handle music production quite well, but am not sure what to get. So far I've understood that its important for this laptop to have:

  • 32GB RAM (DDR5 preferably)
  • Top-notch processor
  • Good graphic card
  • at least 1TB of SSD Storage, planning on buying external ssd later.

Anyone have any good recommendations for this? The budget is around 2,250 USD / 2,137 EUR.

I made chocolate chip cookies today and brought one downstairs to where my main computer is and ate it - they really turned out good. So I've been sitting here wishing I had brought more than one cuz I don't don't feel like going back upstairs, then just now I look over to the side and boom, half of the cookie is still left. Sweet! And when I say these turned out really good I mean awesome.

Not sure if this is also true for KDE.

U.S. President Joe Biden spoke in support of the ceasefire later the same day, adding that his administration would use the momentum from Tuesday’s deal between Israel and Hezbollah to push toward a ceasefire deal in Gaza. Biden also blamed Hamas for the failure to secure peace in Gaza to date, alleging that the group has failed to negotiate in good faith, despite reporting to the contrary.

But Netanyahu’s own address seemed to undercut Biden’s point. In pitching the ceasefire to the Israeli audience, Netanyahu, who is wanted by the International Criminal Court for potential war crimes, emphasized that closing the northern front of its war would allow Israel’s military to regroup and give the nation an opportunity to focus on other enemies: Iran and Hamas. He also emphasized that Israel would “retain complete military freedom of action,” adding that “should Hezbollah violate the agreement or attempt to rearm, we will strike decisively.”

Israel intensified its bombing campaign against Lebanon in recent days, up through and beyond the announcement of the pending ceasefire. A day before the truce was announced, Israeli strikes killed at least seven Palestinians in Gaza City. Reports have surfaced in recent days of the IDF using sniper drones to target and kill civilians. And as the flow of humanitarian aid into Gaza has been slowed by Israel, experts warned of “a strong likelihood of famine” in areas of northern Gaza.

Zonszein said that the truce does not imply Israel is interested in peace. She said that continued U.S. support gives Israel the unilateral ability to move freely in and over Lebanon by land, sea, and air. Maintaining the threat of violence against Lebanon, and, as Netanyahu mentioned in his speech, Iran, is core to Israeli strategy, she said.

Moments after Biden announced the deal, Israeli warplanes struck Beirut yet again. The bombing campaign continued in the hours leading up to the pending ceasefire.

Company on TikTok got ROASTED for posting this incredibly cringe and honestly infuriating TikTok about how there's two people working in office during Thanksgiving in the USA, and it's just the two of them, no one else is there, but they still have to come to the office. They thought they were really doing something here and going to make people laugh. But they are so out of touch with reality. Almost every other company I've heard of let's people work from home during this time, but not these truly soulless corporate shills, of course. And they had the audacity to say that they enjoy working in the office, and it's not even a good office with cubicles, mind you. It's one of the open concept ones where there's no privacy and you have to hear everyone fully....

I decided to clean out my CPU fan as it was clogged, when I assembled everything again it won't turn on 🙁

It's an old desktop PC. There are no lights glowing on the motherboard at all, though there is none specifically labelled "power". Just CPU, RAM, BOOT. None of these light up, not even a flash when it starts.

I have reseated the RAM, CPU, power cables. Removed the GPU to check.

The cord leading in to the PSU works but I don't have a way to test the PSU itself or the out cables, but I have reseated them at each end.

This PC was working fine before. But with no lights on the motherboard I suspect either the mobo or PSU?

Mobo is asrock x570 PSU is silverstone 650w strider gold S series

Any help appreciated!

Edit: I made a new post asking for hardware recommendations.

Right now is the best period of time yet for Firefox-based browser, especially when most alternative browsers are Chrome-based.

While there are a bunch of forks like Librewolf and Palemoon, they provide features mainly for power users like hardened privacy and tweaked user-prefs. A year ago the only fork I knew of, based on recent stable versions of Firefox and added productivity features on top was Floorp. I was very surprised at the hype and sudden popularity of Zen Browser in the past few months and have been curious why it grew so much faster than Floorp which has been around for much longer, look at the Github star graph: https://star-history.com/#zen-browser%2Fdesktop=&Date=. Zen Browser currently has 19.3K stars while Floorp has 6.1K.

Reasons I can think of are the following: heavy promotion of the browser by the devs and community on places like Reddit along with emphasizing its 'zen' philosophy, really fast development (it now has way more features than Floorp), and the Zen mods store, where you can install CSS mods.

What are your thoughts and reasons for Zen Browser becoming so popular so fast? (while its not mainstream, it did grow fast in among Firefox and power users)

The actions are part of China’s attempts to undermine Taiwan’s sovereignty, Taiwan's National Security Bureau said.

'State Organs' (國有器官) documents allegations that Chinese government officials engage in organ harvesting and other illegal activities.

From last month to Friday last week, 28 incidents have been reported of theaters or institutions receiving threats, including bomb and shooting threats, if they did not stop showing the documentary, the bureau said.

[...]

Threats have also been received from Thailand, Vietnam, Turkey, Japan, Spain and Russia, suggesting that the criminals are using virtual private networks to hide their origins, it added.

The threats are part of a larger strategy by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) to interfere with all levels of Taiwan’s society, the bureau said.

[...]

The bureau vowed to continue to closely monitor the [Chinese Communist Party's] CCP’s cyberintimidation attempts against Taiwanese, bolster domestic security and keep the public informed.

It also said it would seek to build up its international intelligence cooperation as well as domestic security initiatives to confront the CCP’s attempts at isolating and diminishing Taiwan.
